When planning my kids’ birthday parties, like many parents, I want to catch their excellent enthusiasms at that moment in time, for both the style of the celebration as well as likewise the cake.
My eldest child Oliver, now 6, together with his buddies, is absolutely consumed with Bear Nibbles Bear Yo Yo packets (natural fruit sweets with shiny animal based cards inside which youngsters collect, switch as well as play with)-so this year was a no-brainer, a Bear Yo Yo birthday cake it would be!
I searched on the internet for inspiration, Pinterest, Google etc- to no avail, there wasn’t a single Bear Yo Yo birthday cake on the internet (!)- which leads me to question whether this I commissioned may just be a world FIRST?!

Enlisting the services of the super-gifted Kath of Kath’s Cakes in Harrogate (the developer of my Mulberry Bayswater birthday cake below, in November), we discussed concepts as well as brainstormed in advance as I wished to integrate the sweets as well as the cards…
And she developed this show-stopper. Oliver actually gasped with pleasure when he saw it.
What a just amazing cake.
Oliver liked opening the actual Bear Yo Yo after he blew out the candles too-an additional present on top!
